X Users Report Widespread Notification Glitches, Company Silent on Fix

Date:

A growing number of users on X (formerly Twitter) are reporting serious issues with notifications not appearing or arriving with significant delays—sometimes up to 14 hours. The disruption, which began late Thursday, has affected both mobile and web platforms, leaving many users in the dark about replies, mentions, and engagement on their posts.
Despite hundreds of complaints circulating on the platform, Elon Musk’s X has yet to officially acknowledge or address the problem. While Downdetector hasn’t shown a dramatic spike in outages, the persistent nature of these delays has sparked concern among frequent users.
“If you’re missing alerts, don’t worry—it’s not your phone. It’s an X-side issue,” one user posted, echoing the sentiments of many who feel cut off from their usual social interactions on the platform.
What to Do if X Notifications Still Aren’t Working:
Enable Email Alerts: Go to Settings & Privacy > Notifications > Preferences > Email Notifications to receive updates via email.
Check Manually: Visit your Notifications tab or profile regularly to stay updated.
Switch Devices: Try using X on another device or browser and enable desktop notifications where possible.
Use Third-Party Tools: Social media monitoring apps can alert you in real time about mentions or replies.
Until X releases an official statement or a fix, these steps may help bridge the gap for those impacted by the glitch.
